REDUCER VS. STRETCHER: HOW IS ADHESION AFFECTED?
If too much reducer is added to smooth surfaces (metal, model making, etc.), the paint will be overstretched and lose its adhesion properties. On paper & canvas as a painting surface, overstretching the paint is not so tragic. We therefore recommend using the stretcher on smooth surfaces and in custom painting as a medium to achieve a softer application of paint without losing adhesion.
