Car-Rep® 2K PU Clear Coat – a crystal-clear, highly durable 2-component PU clear coat in a spray can.

Bring top-tier shine and protection to your airbrush projects with Car-Rep® 2K PU Clear Coat. Thanks to its innovative properties, this 2-component clear coat provides a long-lasting, chemical-resistant finish that not only protects your designs but also enhances their brilliance. Car-Rep 2K PU Clear Coat can be applied over solvent- and water-based paints; it instantly creates a high-gloss finish without the risk of running or dripping.

Why 2K instead of 1K clear coat?
1K Clear Coat: A single-component clear coat that is ready to use immediately and requires no additional activation. Ideal for small projects and less demanding applications. However, it is less resistant to scratches, UV radiation, and chemicals.
2K Clear Coat: Consists of two components (resin and hardener) combined for maximum durability and resistance. Car-Rep’s unique WISE-2K® technology eliminates the need for manual mixing, as the clear coat is activated within the spray can and remains ready for use indefinitely. Perfect for projects requiring superior durability and resilience.

Application Tips
Preparation:

Thoroughly clean the surface and degrease it using a grease-free cleaner.
Sand the surface to ensure optimal adhesion (320–800 grit sandpaper).
Ensure that any existing layers of paint are fully cured.

Application:

Shake the can well before use to ensure the contents are thoroughly mixed.
Spray several thin coats (max. 3 coats) from a distance of 15–25 cm. Allow a flash-off time of approximately 2–3 minutes between the first two coats to achieve optimal results.

Drying and Curing:

Dust-dry after 20–30 minutes, touch-dry after 40–50 minutes, dry after 12 hours.
For best results, allow to dry overnight. Full curing takes 7 days.
Optional: Polish the surface after full curing for an even more intense shine.

Additional tip:

For quick projects, you can accelerate the drying time using an infrared heater.
Storage Instructions
Please ensure the nozzle is cleaned after every use in accordance with the operating instructions.
An insufficiently cleaned nozzle can become clogged, creating the impression of a pressure problem.
Additionally, always store the product upright to prevent clogs and malfunctions.

Suitable for which projects?
Airbrush designs on vehicle parts: Provides a high-gloss, chemical- and UV-resistant protective layer.
Wooden artworks and furniture: Perfect for a durable, resilient finish.
Metallic designs and model making: The clear coat protects the surface and enhances details. Suitable for use on bare aluminum, as well as bare and galvanized steel.
Unsuitable substrates: Polystyrene (Styrofoam)

It's a 2 component...

It's a 2 component polyurethane coat, it doesn't need activation, area of repair/coverage can be up to 3 square meters. Should resist gasoline and chemicals in a matter of 2 weeks. No more need I say. (Quelle: SHOPVOTE)

Car-Rep® 2K PU Clear Coat offers superior durability and resistance thanks to its WISE-2K® technology. Unlike 1K clear coats—which are less robust against UV radiation, chemicals, and scratches—this two-component formula ensures a professional-grade finish. Best of all, no mixing is required; the clear coat is ready to use immediately.

The clear coat is ideal for painted surfaces, wood, aluminum, and galvanized steel. It is excellent for airbrushing and projects requiring maximum durability. However, it is not suitable for Styrofoam or surfaces that have not fully cured.

For a perfect finish:
Clean and sand the surface (using up to 800-grit sandpaper).
Spray the clear coat from a distance of 15–25 cm in several thin layers.
Wait approximately 5 minutes between coats. The final coat should be applied as a wet, glossy layer.
For added durability, allow the coating to dry overnight and polish if necessary.

The clear coat is dust-dry after 30–45 minutes and touch-dry after 3–5 hours. It achieves full chemical resistance after 14 days. You can use infrared light to accelerate the drying process.

Thanks to revolutionary WISE-2K® technology, the clear coat remains active inside the can without drying out. This means that no material is wasted—you can use the varnish flexibly and repeatedly without having to dispose of it prematurely.
