When you're starting out with airbrushing, the compressor is usually where the fun stops: loud, bulky, one unmarked dial, and endless guessing about how much pressure you're actually running. That's exactly what the GAAHLERI TurboX Mini fixes. It's barely bigger than a phone, weighs 600 grams, and shows you on a display, in real time, what it's delivering.
You can see what you're spraying
The digital display shows live pressure in bar or PSI, your choice. There's a temperature readout too, in °C or °F. Sounds like a gimmick, but it's the fastest learning tool a beginner can have: you see in black and white which pressure gives you a clean line and where the paint starts misbehaving. Nobody takes that experience away from you later — not even when you upgrade to a bigger compressor.
One dial does everything
A short press cycles through three presets: Low (approx. 0.7 bar), Medium (approx. 1.0 bar) and High (approx. 1.4 bar). That covers most of what happens on a desk. Want finer control? Turn the dial and adjust across 18 levels from 0.55 to 2.5 bar rated pressure. The display keeps up without lag.
Quiet enough for a flat
A 4 mm reinforced housing plus multi-layer damping keeps resonance down. Under test conditions, operating noise measures ≤ 48 dB at one metre — roughly fridge territory. In practice: you can work on a model in the evening without the whole household knowing about it.
It thinks when things heat up
Compact tankless compressors run continuously, and they get warm doing it. The TurboX Mini monitors its own temperature: at 85 °C the display flashes to suggest a break. At 90 °C it shuts down on its own and returns to standby once cooled. Annoying in the moment, but that's the difference between taking a break and buying a new compressor.

Where it stops — honestly
The TurboX Mini is a tankless piston compressor delivering 18 l/min. For airbrushes up to roughly a 0.35 mm nozzle, that's spot on. With large nozzles from 0.5 mm upward, or spray guns, it runs out of air — literally. The pressure it actually holds depends on your airbrush:

0.3 mm approx. 1.1 – 1.25 bar
0.35 mm approx. 0.9 – 1.0 bar
0.5 mm approx. 0.7 bar
The bigger the nozzle, the more air it eats, and the lower the pressure a tankless compressor can hold. Fine for desk work, not for a car bonnet.

Do I need a separate moisture trap?
We'd strongly recommend it. The TurboX Mini doesn't include one, and every compressor produces condensation — especially during longer sessions in a warm room. A single water droplet in a freshly sprayed surface ruins an hour's work. A trap with a 1/8" fitting costs little and sits directly between compressor and hose.
Will my airbrush fit the connection?
The compressor uses a 1/8" BSP fitting — the European standard. The supplied hose therefore fits the vast majority of airbrushes from Harder & Steenbeck, Iwata, Gaahleri, Evolution and others. Only a few models (mainly older US designs) need an adapter.
Is the pressure enough for scale models and miniatures?
Yes, with room to spare. Model making, miniatures and illustration typically run between 1,5 and 2,0 bar — the TurboX Mini delivers that reliably with nozzles up to 0.35 mm. For spray guns with large nozzles, or surfaces the size of a car bonnet, you'll want a compressor with a tank.
Can it run continuously or do I need breaks?
There's no air tank, so it runs continuously as long as it's switched on. That's by design and fine for normal sessions. If it gets too warm it flags up at 85 °C — then 10 to 15 minutes of rest and it's ready again. Tip: switch it off between colour changes, it extends the life of the unit.
Is an airbrush included?
No, this is the compressor-only version. If you're starting completely from scratch you'll also need an airbrush — happy to advise on which one suits what you're planning.
